Hey!! I’m Chloe, I graduated as dux from Ballarat Grammar in 2023, with an ATAR of 99.4, and a 50 in English Language and Health and Human Development. I’m currently studying a double degree in Arts/Law at Monash Uni.
I have 100+ hours of tutoring experience and give revision lectures to Year 12’s across the state; I’m super passionate about helping everyone achieve their absolute best.
I spent Year 12 studying smarter, not harder. I spent time with friends, did my school musical, and didn’t study for hours upon hours. Instead, I used really specific study techniques, and instead aimed to feel as calm and confident as possible heading into SAC’s and exams. Working on my outlook on the subject, and how the content fit into the real world made a huge difference that separated me from the rest of my cohort.
I love English Language (I also did Mainstream), and I believe that with practice, and the right preparation, anyone can surprise themselves with a high mark, even if you picked it because it’s the ‘most science-like’.

It is important to make sure that you have a good plan on how you will approach your year in English Language to maximise your marks and improve your skills- this makes a massive difference for your end result.
I’ll share with you some tips and advice on things that I wish I knew at the start of the year, and what mistakes not to make so you can be more efficient with your time.

Lecture 2: Metalanguage
Metalanguge is arguably the most important tool that you can have to succeed in English Language. Knowing how and when to use metalanguage can help to impress examiners and boost marks.
I will help you understand what each metalanguage term means, and how to identify them in the texts you are analysing.
I will show you how to best integrate metalanguage into your writing and provide some tips that I found helpful to reduce the ‘clunkiness’ and make the integration appear more natural and flowing
